I recently stumbled across Art-Spire which is a basically just a mass collection of designs in all different categories. It covers typography, illustration, photography, graphic designs and more. I only warn you to make sure you have some free time, because this site will take the little free time us college students have left. A recent group of illustrations I enjoyed were by Canadian designer Laura Bifano. It was a project called "Menagerie," which uses large cube pixels to depict animals natural environments.

This Menagerie that you speak of is very interesting, I've never seen it before and I'd love to delve deeper into how the illustrations were created. It's interesting that the designs use cubes while the backgrounds remain soft and reminiscent of water-color paint. Very interesting and eye-catching approach, good find!
ReplyDeleteWill, those illustrations are crazy cool. It takes the geometry and art into something that's completely different. The water-color illustrations remind me of paintings from the early 1900s with it's soft and airy feel to it, but with a modern twist.
ReplyDeleteI found those illustrations that are completely contemporary in its appearance. These illustrations are created after manipulating photos. If you have time out of our crazy journalism schedule, check it out:

These. Are. Awesome. I'm especially fond because for my spring preview I went with an 8-bit theme, so I've been on a pixel art kick lately. With the classic painting-esque backgrounds and the digital look to the animals, it kind of speaks to the melding of classic style with modern techniques. The pixels kind of look like wood to me too which is another added visual element. Very cool stuff, glad you shared.
ReplyDeleteP.S. Honey badger don't care.
